The discussion here summarizes the nature of environmental criticism, which has raised numerous questions about the origins of the term, its emergence, and its connection to literature and literary theory. This type of criticism emerged in the late decades of the twentieth century, influenced by environmental protection movements, animal rights organizations, and manifestations of climate change. Belief in these new issues has shaped art and literature in general. Literary texts are now examined and criticized from a perspective that expresses their deep philosophical, cultural, and moral awareness of the environment and its resources, as well as of the overall problems related to the sustainability of life and the future of humanity on Earth.
